Minuteer
Native macOS • Audio Ingestion & AI Minutes
Automated field recorder ingestion, on-device transcription, and AI meeting minutes.
Minuteer is a native macOS application designed for hardware field recorders (such as Zoom recorders and SD cards), watch folders, and voice memos. The moment you insert your SD card, Minuteer detects the volume, securely copies your audio files, and executes lightning-fast on-device speech-to-text transcription.
Built with Swift 6 and SwiftUI, Minuteer automatically links your recordings with macOS calendar events, recognizes speakers via local voiceprints, and generates structured Markdown notes with executive summaries and action items directly into Obsidian, Bear, or your personal notes vault.
Free and open-source under the MIT license on GitHub.
Features & Capabilities
What You Can Do
- Zero-Click SD Card Ingestion: Automatically detects your field recorder SD card (e.g.,
P2_SD) when inserted, verifies recording integrity with SHA-256 checksums, imports files, and safely ejects the volume. - On-Device Offline Transcription: Powered by WhisperKit running directly on Apple Silicon CoreML and the Apple Neural Engine, with automatic fallback to Apple's native Speech Recognition framework. Complete privacy with zero cloud dependencies.
- Speaker Diarization & Voiceprints: Recognizes recurring voices across multiple recording sessions using cosine similarity and local audio voiceprints. Rename speakers, split turns, and merge conversational flow interactively.
- macOS Calendar Auto-Matching: Queries your local calendar to correlate audio start times with scheduled meetings, pulling in meeting titles, participant lists, and sanitized agendas into frontmatter metadata.
- Apple Intelligence Summarization: Generate executive summaries, key decisions, and formatted action item checklists (
- [ ]) using native on-deviceFoundationModelson supported Apple Silicon Macs. - OpenAI-Compatible LLM Integration: Switch seamlessly to self-hosted models running in Ollama or LM Studio, or connect to Groq, OpenRouter, or OpenAI endpoints for customized summaries.
- Vault-Ready Markdown Archiving: Writes structured Markdown notes with YAML frontmatter directly to your notes inbox (defaults to
~/Documents/Minuteer/Inbox), formatted cleanly for Obsidian, Bear, Logseq, or jrnl. - Interactive Audio Player: Full-fidelity playback with interactive waveform scrubbing, variable playback speeds (0.75x–2.0x), 15-second seek jumps, and instant jumping to any spoken turn in the transcript.
- Safety Guarantees: Recordings are never removed from your SD card without explicit confirmation, and existing inbox notes are never overwritten without your permission.
